1. When was it built?
It was built during 1567 during the Colonial Era. The fortress was expanded twice, the first time during 1657 and the second during 1763. It is located on the Hill of  Lazaro. Its original name is Castillo de San Lazaro.

2. Who built it?
It was built by the Spanish, but the architect was Antonio de Arevalo, who was a mathematician and a military engineer.

3. Why was it built?
The Castillo San Felipe de Barajas served as a fortress. During the War of the Grand Alliance and the Battle of Cartagena de Indias, it was a fortress. Its location is strategic, since its close to the water and on land.

4. How big or how high is it?
The fortress consists of a series of walls and passages. There are underground tunnels and bunkers. It is a complex maze built on the top of a hill with a triangular shape.

5. Any interesting features or events connected to the landmark?
Since the landmark is a fortress it was involved in wars. Such as the War of the Grand Alliance and the Battle of Cartagena de Indias. Features related to the landmark are that noise vibrates on the tunnel walls so that when the enemy was near it would be easy to hear their footsteps.

6.Any famous people connected to the landmark?
Its connected to Phillip IV of Spain, for whom it was built for.
